Every once in a while, I walk through a home and find a feature that makes me stop and think, “Why don’t more houses have this?”
That happened recently when I came across a small door built into the wall of a pantry in a Prior Lake home.
At first glance, it almost looked like a little storage door. But open it up and you discover something pretty clever: the door connects the pantry directly to the garage.
A Shortcut for the Groceries
Think about coming home from Costco or the grocery store with a car full of bags.
Instead of carrying everything from the garage through the house and into the kitchen, you can open this little pass-through door and place the groceries directly into the pantry.
Walk inside, open the pantry and everything is waiting for you.
Simple? Yes.
But also pretty ingenious!

Would You Want One in Your Home?
I love discovering unusual home features like this because sometimes the smallest ideas can make everyday life a little easier.
Of course, any opening between an attached garage and the living area of a home raises important fire-separation and building-code considerations. If someone wanted to add a feature like this to an existing home, I would recommend checking with the local building department and a qualified contractor before assuming a similar pass-through could be installed.
But as a home feature to stumble across while touring properties? This one definitely caught my attention.
So now I'm curious:
